Valencia is a suburb of Los Angeles County, California in the northwestern corner of the Santa Clarita Valley. It was one of four unincorporated communities that merged to create the city of Santa Clarita, CA. Valencia is notable for its well-landscaped boulevards and had an estimated population in July 2006 of 168,008. Valencia's residential areas are separated into villages and almost all of these villages are close to schools, shopping and other amenities. One of Valencia's best features is its Paseo system which is an extensive system of paved pathways with grade separations over and under the boulevards. Valencia has over 30 miles of paseos that link it together allowing you to always be within walking distance of work, play or home.

EDUCATION
Valencia's schools are ranked in the top 10% in California. Many of these schools are California Distinguished or National Blue Ribbon, the highest honor an American school can receive. A couple of the major schools in Valencia and its surrounding areas include California Institute of the Arts, College of the Canyons, Canyon High School and Valencia High School. There are also various elementary or private schools to choose from, such as Charles Helmers Elementary School located on Grandview Drive, Valencia Valley Elementary School on Carrizo Drive, Legacy Private Academy on Dickason Drive or Lighthouse Christian Academy on North Smyth Drive.


RECREATION
Valencia is home to the Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park and the adjacent Hurricane Harbor water park. A short drive away is the Castaic Lake State Recreation Area, including the Castaic Dam. The lower lake is for non-power boating and seasonal swimming. The upper lake is for sailing, power boating, water and jet skiing and fishing. For those of you who like the snow, approximately 90 miles away you can take in some skiing at either Mountain High, San Bernadino County, Snow Valley, San Bernadino County, or Mount Baldy, CA.
